Thnak You to Buttermore Jewelers (367 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg, WV) collected supplies for the HSOV during the first week in September after learning that our shelter had an unexpected intake of nearly 50 cats and that our supply of cat food was low. Every customer who donated an item was given a free dog or cat charm. Connie Ritchie and Gina Moore (Buttermore Jewelers) said that more than 60 items were donated by their customers and were delivered to the HSOV on Monday, September 8, 2014.
Thank you to ZkFitness, 121 Putnam Street, Suite 301, Marietta, Ohio (owned & operated by Brian Anderson ) for hosting a “Feed The HSOV Felines Party” on Monday evening, September 8, 2014. This was a fun-filled evening which was held for the benefit of the cats and kittens in our shelter. Attendees brought donations of cat (and dog food), cat litter, and/or made monetary donations to the Friends of Feline Fund for the spay/neuter of shelter cats. Thanks to HSOV Volunteer, Shelly Kidd,
for coordinating this event and to Sandra Brightwell, Debbie Friend, Dee Keyes, and Ciji Painter for helping as well. Thanks to Tracy Reifer who prepared the publicity flyers for this event. Four HSOV cats/kittens (Cassie Girl, Connie Bear, Pansy and Parsley) also attended the ZkFitness ‘Feed The Felines’ event and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We’re pretty sure that kittens “Pansy & Parsley” were doing their version of Zumba.

Throw Down For The Pound: TDX was held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Marietta (OH) Middle School . This fundraiser is one of the most popular (and also one of the most successful) events which is held for the benefit of the HSOV. This latest one was the TENTH in a series and was very well-attended.
Thanks to Adam Johnson (manager/WeLovPets) for organizing and coordinating TDX and also for the continuing support from WeLovPets, Lafayette Plaza, Marietta, Ohio. WeLovPets showcases many of our HSOV dogs and cats in their store where they are available for adoption through our shelter, and they are always willing to host adoption events there as well.
